FAQs for Skaters

Do I need to be a USFS or ISI skater to participate?

You do not have to be USFS or ISI registered to skate but it is preferable and the majority of participants are.

 

Can a team of noncompetitive skaters form a team?

Yes absolutely!

 

Can a team sign-up/register the day of the event?

No, all teams must pre reregister prior to Friday, September 7th.

 

Can a team of 5 or 6 skaters sign-up?

Yes! SJMF recommends a team of four, but everyone is always welcome to join in the fun.

 

What if I am not able to attend the entire day of the team skate or if our whole team can only skate part of the day?

Teams may participate in half days but must discuss with SJMF prior to September 8th.

 

Do we need to bring food/beverages for the day?

You are  welcome to bring anything you like, but all participating skaters will be provided lunch and snacks throughout the day.

 

Can my team and I wear matching colors?  Team shirts?

Yes, go wild! Teams are encouraged to wear whatever team outfit they like.

 

Do I need to check-in every time I get on and off the ice?

Yes, there will be certain times to enter and exit the ice. If it’s an emergency please notify your team lead and they will help you.

 

Do I need to sign a risk/liability waiver?

Yes, all participants will need to sign a waiver in order to participate. Don’t forget to bring it signed and ready for the day!

 

 

FAQs for Public Skate

Can anyone come to skate during the public skate times without having pre registered?

Yes! Please encourage all family and friends to come skate during out public sessions! 12-1pm and 4-5pm.

 

Should all checks be made out to The Stephanie Joseph Memorial Fund or can some be made to the B+Foundation?

Please make out all checks to the Stephanie Joseph Memorial Fund.

 

Can we bring cash donations?

Yes.

 

Will donors be provided with tax-deductible receipts?

Yes. Please request all tax-decuctible receipts at info@stephaniejoseph.com or the day of the event.

 

If I am participating in the skate-a-thon for a community service project that I want to list on a college application, what are my requirements? Will I receive a letter of participation?

Yes. A letter of participation will be provided to you after meeting the requirements of skating for one hour at a fee of $10 and providing a $100 donation for each team of four.

 

Will skate rentals be available?

Yes . Each skate rental will be at reduced cost of $1/pair of skates.

 

Will there be live music?

A DJ will be present to take music requests!

 

 

Skate-A-Thon Participants Get Creative While Fundraising

Two of our participants, Ashley and Lindsay, made their own poster to raise money for SJMF. In only 2 hours, they raised $250! We love to see our skaters take ownership over reaching their goals!

If you are raising funds for SJMF, contact the restaurant about working one night to reach your fundraising goal. For everyone else, just come hungry!

Cousins Subs is also donating our volunteer and participant sandwiches on the day of the Skate-A-Thon.
